With Jeremy Andrews
Here’s a little information about me, so you can see why I am the way I am:
Born and raised in Gresham, I spent most of my life here in the Northwest (except for that two year stint, where I lived in Phoenix.)
Last year I got married to a woman from Molalla (which I constantly mispronounce and misspell just to mess with her.)
I have a Saint Bernard named Bernie, who I has way more friends than I ever will. He has that cute puppy dog look down to a science.
My wife and I own a house that is 101 years old. It’s small and drafty, but I figure it’s lasted this long, I can’t possibly mess it up too badly..
Like Bubba, I got bitten by the Radio Bug early. I was 9 years old when I decided I wanted to be “On the Air.” By the time I was 11, I had started doing a weekly 4 hour show on a local college radio station. After 3 years, I bounced around to various other stations in the Portland area (though I never managed to make any money..) By the time High School rolled around, I decided Cars and Girls where more important than radio, so I bailed. This is where the whole Arizona thing fits in. Eventually, radio called me back. After getting some weird jobs at various AM stations in town, in 2003 I was hired on by KUPL to do weekends.
When I started in radio, I wanted nothing more than to be a Rock DJ, because the only thing I knew back then about Country music was the 70’s country music I grew up with (Eddie Rabbit, Merle Haggard etc) and Garth Brooks “No Fences” album. It wasn’t until I started working for KUPL that I realized just how special the Country Music community really is. Every Country artist I have ever met has been friendly and down to earth, and every fan of country music has been the same. Each day, I get to speak with some of the friendliest listeners in the world. You make me look forward to coming to work each night, and to steal a comment from my former: “ it's truly a privilege to be a part of KUPL, and it's a privilege to a part of your life.”
Be proud that you love Country music and live in the Northwest!
