Sustainability Tips / Ways to Reduce your Carbon Footprint
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Compost
- Store food in reusable containers rather than plastic bags or foil
- Bring your own cloth or fabric bags when you shop
- Re-use the plastic bags you already have:Reduce waste at the office:
/ Copy on both sides of the paper.
/ Reduce documents to fit two pages onto
one.
/ Use lighter weight paper.
/ Consider purchasing eco-friendly envelopes.
/ Use e-mail and other tech-savvy alternatives whenever possible.
Conserve Water 
- Take shorter showers, try to cut your shower time in half, or limit it to less than 5 minutes.
- Turn off the water when brushing your teeth.
- Never water your lawn at midday
- Place a brick in old toilets
- Run the dishwasher only when it is full.
- Let grass grow longer.
- Plant native or drought-tolerant garden plants Save Energy
- Turn off lights when no one is in the room (including bathrooms.)
- When feasible, use stairs rather than the elevator
- Turn off appliances, lights, and equipment when not in use.
- Don't forget to turn computers and printers off at the power strip!
- Exchange or purchase compact fluorescent light bulbs. They use less energy than incandescent and last longer.
